Frequently Asked Troubleshooting Steps
Why does my compass show "Sensor Blocked" or not rotate?
On iOS devices, Apple requires explicit user permission to read motion sensors. Tap the "Enable Sensor" prompt. If previously denied, check iOS Settings > Safari > Motion & Orientation Access. On desktop browsers without magnetometers, an interactive fallback dial is displayed instead.
How do I calibrate an inaccurate compass reading?
Gently wave your phone in a smooth figure-8 pattern in the air for 5 to 10 seconds. Keep your device at least 30 cm away from metal desk legs, magnetic phone cases, and laptop chassis.
Why does True North need location access?
The Earth’s magnetic poles differ from its geographic rotational poles. To calculate magnetic declination using the World Magnetic Model, your browser requires one-time latitude and longitude coordinates. This calculation runs 100% locally and is never sent to any server.
